This is my entry for the NASA/Etsy Space Craft Contest. It's a high texture hand embroidery of the moon. I didn't make it to the voting round, but you can read more about that and get some great space and embroidery resources over on my blog. Stitches used: chain stitch, stem stitch, satin stitch, split stitch, french knot, bullion knot, button hole wheel, button hole wheel cups, button hole, Portuguese stem stitch.

Light beading.
Stitched on linen then mounted on a grey linen blend.

Thanks, everyone! It turns out there was a glitch in how Etsy pulled entries for review in the initial round of the contest, and now mine has been listed as a semi-finalist and is open for voting!
