      – Thanks so much for using the term “labelscar”, what a wonderful word! I had searched in vain to figure out what those things were called when I first began noticing and photographing them. “Ghost signs” was the closest thing I could find, but I know that means something different. Hooray, now I get to add tags to all the ones I’ve shot before and I see there is even a labelscar blog and corresponding flickr group. You have made my day.

      Wonder if this Foodland is related to the Hawaiian Foodland stores that sometimes are shown in 'Dog The Bounty Hunter'? it's kind-a the same font, except the colour is green and not white

      Kroger left St Louis in 1986, National could have taken over after that. May have been a Schnucks too if they kept the store after the National buy-out.
