The Cycle of Nature

The Cycle of Nature

Well, I'm trying to make my Winter photographs more interesting... This is a 'Tunnel' of a shot I took at Far North Bicentennial Park where the creek is, of course, totally frozen but it freezes in interesting, almost turquoise colors. It's very beautiful.

Not as beautiful as it is in Summer at 75 degrees... but I digress. :)

Record Snow Fall

Record Snow Fall

Record snow fall this year... most snow to ever fall here in January and we're on our way to a record Winter. Last record was 1952 at 132" of snow. I know we can beat it!

Ah, wait a minute... No, I didn't meant that... :)

I took this photograph of Harry about 1 hour ago of him enjoying the white stuff in our backyard. I had just called him in and this is Harry saying, "No!"

Naturally, you can't let that stand with such a large dog or Harry would be running the household in a week! So I used my 'big boy' voice and Harry relented and came inside. But he would stay out in the snow until you could no longer see him.

The End of Today

The End of Today

It warmed up to a balmy +17f (-8c) so I took Harry out for a walk at our favorite area, Far North Bicentennial Park. Very beautiful sunset, very quiet, and still a little cold! :)

Hope of Spring

Hope of Spring

And I do mean "Hope!" I know Spring is coming... they said so on the evening news last night, so you know it's true! :)

I took this shot out my backdoor from the ice/snow overhand on our roof.

The Alpha Female

The Alpha Female

This is Kona, a Tricolor Collie, and Toby, a Yellow Lab. These are Harry's brother and sister!

While Harry is the unchallenged Alpha Dog in our four-dog pack (We also have a female Skipperke), Kona is the Alpha Female.

Anyway, this photograph clearly shows Kona instructing Toby about his place in the pack. Toby listens respectfully!

Pretty much all dog packs and all wolf packs have an Alpha pair and an Omega member. The Omega member is the lowest ranked in the pack. Toby is our Omega Dog.

Now outside his pack, Toby can be pretty assertive out in the world with other dogs. He will stand his ground even with larger, more dominant dogs but in his pack, he is Omega.
