The Art of Cooking Breakfast

In a Boy Scout troop, the 11-year-old newcomers are often nicknamed "Grubbies," due to the way they prepare their "grub" on camping trips. Being used to having most of their food prepared "instantly" (through their eyes) at fast food restaurants, they think that if they turn their gas cook stoves to a "blowtorch" setting, they can have their pancakes, bacon and/or eggs instantly.

Of course, their food ends up looking like charcoal! As leaders, we teach them how to slow the process down and prepare their food properly. Eventually, they become pretty good cooks for their patrols.

I tell the above story to say that this morning I felt like a "Grubbie" all over again!
