While in Chicago I witnessed a demonstration against the recent violence in Gaza . I observed and took many shots of the crowd and their impassioned but peaceful gathering.

Wow, the look in her eyes is intense. I wonder if it's sadness or anger or maybe it's a combination. Nice capture! She's a very striking lady.

Great capture..one can only imagine how they must be feeling. Its such a terrible tragic mess over there, the sense of deja-vu and indeed hopelessness is so pervasive..

Thank you all! I know it is not my usual type of photo. I just happened upon this demonstration in downtown Chicago and was riveted by the faces of the people. I'm grateful for your finding a way to comment on this photo of an intense subject.
Photo now appears on NowPublic.com as a thumbnail to a story on the recent attack on medical supply vessel entering Gaza.

Small world. I was visiting yesterday, probably a few blocks away. Compelling expressions. Put it on the front of the Trib....

Thanks photohappi for capturing this photo of me, I love the way you took it without me knowing but then it looks like I'm looking straight at the camera. Everytime I look at this picture, I am just reminded by the horrified and sad faces of the innocent Gazan children who unfortunately have to die for no reason at all. And I am geatful to myself for going out and supporting my fellow Palestinian brothers and sisters. If anyone is interested, Palestinian and Anti-War Organizations will be holding many other protests across America on Friday. The one in Chicago will be located at the Tribune Tower at 3pm. Thanks again for the pic.

Thank you alulu10 for your kind response. I never expected to connect with you - my world has just gotten bigger. It is a fine line when photographing a stranger, and I hope it came across that I did so with respect. Your efforts have given at least me more empathy for what is happening, and a reason to care -best of luck in your efforts to bring about peace!

Awesome! I just took one picture for the Gaza conflict now. It is horrifying how many people have died and are injured in Gaza right now. It is surreal the fact that we are cozy in our houses while innocent children are denied their right to live in peace, without fear.

Gaza is a serious matter, but, nonetheless, this is a charming candid portrait.
