Mini Castle - Liberty State Park

Here is the the miniature castle way off the beaten path in the marsh at Liberty State Park in Jersey City. I've never read anything about who built it or why it's there. The reeds are around 8-10 feet tall so it's like wandering around a cornfield trying to find it. I'd say the castle isn't even two feet tall at the most. Cool, strange and I only fell into the water once when I was looking for it.

Hey, you found it! I'd like to get out there before tick season.

Maybe it was built as a child's plaything near a long-since-gone residence?

This has been on my list to find. There is an explanation for this thing, don't know where I read about it though. I think it was part of an art installation.

Great shot. The castle was constructed in 1982 by a sculptor named Charles Simmonds. Park literature doesn't advertise the sculpture to protect wildlife.

Any idea what it's built out of?
