They are reading books
This is a shot taken at the rather new library Jacob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm-Zentrum in Berlin.
This shot was taken on a Sunday morning and to my surprise the library
was rather busy. So whoever thought that Berlin students have only
party in mind, they prove us wrong!

The Jacob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm-Zentrum is the new central library of Humboldt University, located on famous old boulevard Unter den Linden, near Museum Island and Brandenburg Gate. It's the biggest freehand library in Germany and contains 2 million books, all of them publically accessible and not in closed depots. Berlin-based Swiss architect Max Dudler won the competition, in which 277 architects participated, with a typical 'Berlin style' rationalist building. Behind a strictly orthogonal façade, the visitor encounters the big reading hall, which refers to the terraces of the Hanging Gardens of Semiramis. The space is illuminated by natural roof light and contains green desks and lamps with stone covers for 250 people, all designed by the architect. The atmosphere of the hall breathes a similar spirit as the big library hall by Labrouste in Paris. Most of the 1250 workstations are located directly at the façade with tremendous views over the city.

schön das auch drinn, warst aber das motiv ist wirklich ausgelutscht.
interessant wird's vielleicht mit besseren lichteinfall. ansonsten gibt das motiv nicht viel her, andere bereiche sind dort ergiebiger.

I agree that this is not the first shot of this architecture and it will not be the last one for sure. However I believe this is a really great place and everybody having the chance to visit this great architecture should enjoy it and of course post a shot :-).
On the lightning conditions I agree with Feldman, it was very cloudy this day and sunshine would have improved the whole atmosphere a lot.

ich kreide dir nicht an das du das Bild gemacht hast, ich habe ja auch diese Perpektive. Leider gibt es so gut wie keine Möglichkeit ne andere zu finden deshalb der Hinweis mit dem Licht ob der sich umsetzen lässt steht auf einen anderen Blatt.

Mache Dir keine Sorgen, ich habe Deine Anmerkung nicht als Kritik aufgefasst :-). Ich war am Abend zuvor in der Bibliothek, in der es zu diesem Zeitpunkt nur Kunstlicht gab und das erste Foto war sehr bescheiden, weil meine EOS 450d einfach nicht mit den Lichtverhältnissen zurechtkam. Bei Sonnenschein glaube ich schon, daß die Atmosphäre deutlich besser wird. Habe eine andere Perspektive probiert, und von zwar ganz rechts mit asymetrischer Perspektive die ganz ok ausschaut (poste ich viell. später). Da die Studenten aber wohl ziemlich viel Ruhe brauchten, habe ich genau 2 Fotos gemacht, mehr traute ich mir nicht zu machen ohne zu stören :-) Zum Experementieren ist das leider nicht der geeigneste Ort .....

ja das mit den Studenten ist etwas übertrieben die fallen fast Tot vom Stuhl wenn du vor Ihrer Nase mit der Kamera auftauchst..
Ich hoffe du hast dir noch den Rest der Bib...angeschaut.
Ich habe das auch aus allen möglichen Perspektiven fotografiert sieht aber alles nicht wirklich nach was aus. Liegt vielleichtt auch daran das ich die Architektur als etwas einfälltig empfinde. Ich hoffe mal ebenso wie Du das man mit dramatischen Lichteinfall mehr herrausholt.
