So, due to the current depression I'm finally back taking pictures (no more overtime, yay me, I guess). Well, sort of. This one and the tin box are pictures I took in Leipzig more than half a year ago. But, hey, seems like I need to get used to PS again (got somewhat out of practice), so a little recycling doesn't do any harm, does it.

So, dank der aktuellen Wirtschaftslage komme ich wohl endlich wieder zum fotografieren (Überstunden haben sich wohl erst einmal erledigt). Okay, okay, das Bild und die Blechbüchse stammen aus eine Reihe, die ich vor gut einem halben Jahr in Leipzig aufgenommen habe. Aber ich bin wohl ein wenig in PS eingerostet. So gesehen tut das ganz gut :)

Blechbüchse roughly translates to tin box. In this case it’s the nickname of a former department store in Leipzig. The building’s front is made of aluminium designed by a guy called Harry Müller. It was installed back in 1966. Because the façade is that old it was declared landmarked (architectural conservation) some time ago, so the owner needs to take some care in order to preserve the structure. Never would have thought the building to be that old, especially taking the somewhat modern looking front into account. But, hey, what can you expect from a philistine like me.

Die Blechbüchse ist ein ehemaliges Kaufhaus in Leipzig. Die Fassade besteht aus Aluminium und wurde von einem Herrn Harry Müller entworfen. 1966 angefangen, wurde das Haus zwei Jahre lang renoviert bis es dann 1968 in neuem Gewand eröffnet wurde. Damals war es das größte Warenhaus der DDR. Da die Fassade so alt ist, steht sie inzwischen unter Denkmalschutz. Ehrlich gesagt war ich ein wenig über das Alter des Gebäudes erstaunt, nachdem ich es recherchiert hatte. Aber was soll man auch anderes von einem Kulturbanausen wie mir erwarten.

... because I really need to finish my diploma thesis. Gotta defend it sometime in December, so I guess I'm going to start posting pictures again in 2008.

Nehme gerade eine Auszeit da ich mein Diplom fertig bekommen muss. Die Verteidigung sollte irgendwann im Dezember sein. Ergo kann ich frühstens wieder im Januar Bilder posten.
