TX Youth Camp 08 Mailer - inside proof
This is a poster for our youth camp. The theme is "still standing" which I'm not wild about but you work with what you got. Anyways, everyone on the youth committee had taken pictures of themselves holding a blank piece of paper because they were having life size cardboard cutouts of them made to put all over the camp reminding the youth of different events going on. So, I took the pictures of them and incorporated it into the poster design above.

i like this overall. i just think the people at the top jump out too much. the photos are very contrasted (maybe it's the overly "fleshy" pink color of their faces? what if you tried some sepia there, too? you may even think about changing your "Youth Camp" header to a creme matching the rest of your doc.
like this maybe?

All of the adults at the top don't communicate youth to me. Seems like they are promoting themselves.
That aside, I like the design a lot.

I think the design is sweet, but I'm not crazy about the adults on the top... doesn't communicate youth to me either....
It would be cool to see a teen standing while everyone else around him was on the ground, or something like that. Perhaps 1 bowling pin left?

Great design overall. My only thought (aside from agreeing about the adults not representing youth) is that the white of the cards they are holding looks too brilliantly white. It gives it a photoshopped look when I think you could definitely make it more natural.
I don't know about making them sepia as pwonflickr suggested. I like the way they pop out. Just work on giving it a more natural feel.

I like this a lot too. The colors are great.
The first thing I see is "Youth Camp." If I weren't looking at this here, I might not have seen "still standing" at all. I think you need to make it stand out more, no pun intended.
And yeah, gotta agree that the standing guys take away from the youthy-ness of it.

Thanks for the comments! I do agree with all of you about the people taking away from the youthy-ness of it. The youth committee were really jazzed up about these pictures they had taken of themselves and wanted to incorporate it in the design somewhere. I used the posterize filter on the people in order to give the pictures a more rough edgy look. Thus, the fleshy pink of the faces. I might try the sepia though and see how I like it and David I will definitely play around with making the white cards they are holding look a little more natural. As always, you guys have allot of helpful input. Thanks!
