Childs Glacier tumbling into the Copper River, Chugach National Forest, Alaska

    Childs Glacier is quite a spectacle. Because the river constantly undercuts it, it calves every minute or two. It was quite thrilling to camp nearby for two nights and hear the frequent rumbling!

    The flowers in the foreground are fireweed.
