Flame Carrying Fox, Marsden Imbolc 2012
50mm, f/2.8. My fingers were numb at this point and I was fumbling, trying to change between f/2 and f/4. But I couldn't see or feel what I was doing, so ended up midway, at f/2.8.
The Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 afs is a great lens for shooting portraits at night. I feel like I should thank Nikon for a lot of these shots. It handles the fire very well. My 24mm f/2.8 would be been awful at this.

I agree the conditions toally sucked for being able to see what you were doing; I looked at my lcd top panel once and just got snow on the lens for my trouble...

Yep, I couldn't see to change aperture settings. And then I had snow building up on my hat which fell into the viewfinder. Difficult stuff! Plus the numb fingers, the dark, the fire, and the smoke.... ;-)
