Mask, Fire, Fox, and Snow! (Marsden Imbolc 2012)

Masked walk through Marsden at the 2012 Imbolc. Everyone and everything got covered in snow, including these fire carriers, my camera, and my fingers (numb).

I did what I could to cut down on blur here - high ISO, large aperture, underexposing. Very jealous of the other photographers with their D700s. They probably didn't need quite so many tricks up their sleeves!

Imbolc is a 'pagan' festival held every year in Marsden. It celebrates the end of winter and the beginning of spring. As the grand finale, Jack Frost is driven away by the Green Man. Fittingly, the snow eased off around then.

Next year I hope to go back to Imbolc with a D700 or D800, and carry my D90 along as a backup. We'll see if that particulary fantasy comes true.... Such a great event to hone your low light work!
