Frozen Soap Bubble
Have a look at the LARGE version to see the close-up patterns on the ice!
Last winter one of my flickr contacts (Suckaface) uploaded some photos of frozen bubbles, and since then I've wanted to try it.
I blew these outside, onto a snowy bench. Most of them popped straight away, but some just sat there and gradually froze. This one froze from the top to the bottom. The top then collapsed slightly, as you can see. Pretty!
I blew them straight onto the snow. The first few popped, but maybe they laid down some wetness that helped the following ones not to pop.
If the weather gets cold again I'll have another go at this and hopefully get some clearer shots.

So cool. You should try to get a video of the bubble freezing, that would be cool to see.

Blowing them with air (or CO2 or nitrogen) at or below zero celsius might help? Elements of xmas here have included a fan blower which produces bubbles with internal bubbles. I've not even tried to photograph it, yet.

Thanks all.
@Suckaface. Yes, it was really cool watching the ice creep through. I first did some at night, and we watched over them, not knowing if they'd freeze. Bad light in the dark though (doh!), so I tried again in the morning and caught this shot. I got some to pop in the air too, but they didn't come out well as photos. They kind of shattered and crinkled, perhaps depending at what stage they broke-up. :-)
