Me using a Fan Yang Bubble Blower

I need more speed here, so more light. This was fun though. I fired the camera remotely, from a remote in my left hand!

This is the first time I've used high speed sync on my camera. I needed high speed with flash! Glad I know how to work that now.

I used my Nikon SB800 speedlight here, and there was some light from the window. I think this shot could be much better if I used a powerful studio flashlight with a softbox. Might have to talk Sarah around to that though.

That looks like fun! I guess you must be using Gazillion Bubbles? I've been looking everywhere for that stuff! Is the mix as good as they say, and does it work well for larger bubbles, or only small? I've been brewing my own mixes lately, but haven't come up with anything as tough as I've heard those are.
Great lighting and background by the way, the bubbles really pop (no pun intended) out of the shot.

Hi Suckaface. Yes, I bought a huge bottle of the Gazillion Fan Yang bubble mixture. It's very tough, as per my bubbles on the hedge shot:

But I can't get beautiful iridescent colors from it. I've mixed it with glycerin too, to make it tougher. I've noticed that the Fan Yang solution also separates out when it's in the bottle. There's more to this bubble business than meets the eye. I don't know if they have a shelf life either, as my Fan Yang solution mixed with glycerin doesn't seem so tough now as when I mixed it. More questions than answers here I'm afraid.

thats a great shot, keep at it iam sure you get where you want,

      what is Gazillion Fan yang???

    8. richard.heeks (28 months ago | reply)

;-) Gazillion Fang Yang is a brand of bubble mixture. Fang Yang is a famous bubble artist. Gazillion is a company that makes bubble mixture. Gazillion made a brand that was especially tough, for making the big bubbles that Fan Yang used in his show. I think a ton or so of mixture got stolen though, so it's now very difficult to get hold of.

Here's a news article about it. Truth is stranger than fiction:

I guess it wasn't opportunists that made off with 3.4 tons of bubble making liquid!? Who on earth would need that? Where were you the night of the crime Mr Heeks? ;-)

Great shot, they're pretty awesome looking bubbles. Can you make the really big ones like Fang Yang?

    15. richard.heeks (28 months ago | reply)

;0 I could get through some bubble mixture, but 3.4 tons is pushing it, even for me!!!

I haven't tried doing big bubbles yet, but I will in the summer.
