I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

The following words come from a poem by Maya Angelou, and are dedicated to my sister, who was tragicly taken from us recently. This photograph, of a beautiful bird looking for a ledge on which to land, reminds me so much of my beloved sister.

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
of things unknown but longed for still
and his tune is heard on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom.
