An Air Force C-17 cargo jet few into Christmas on the very last day of the project to drop of a load of humanitarian supplies and to pick up all our stuff. This thing was really impressive.
Another shot of the C-17 as it taxied into position. The crew were so fearful of being stuck on Christmas Island, they kept their APU running for the whole unloading/loading process. I don't blame them!
OK, last shot of the C-17. Here it is landing on Christmas Island. The C-17 is designed to handle very short runways, so the plane landed and came to a full stop in about half the distance you would expect an enormous beast like that capable of.
Two of the Captain Cook staff members with Brian (for right) and Tim (with the hat). The woman on the right was always laughing, especially at the weekly dance performances. Part of the fun of the luau was hearing her giggling in the back of the room.
