The Winds of Change...

The parking lot that surrounds the Philadelphia Spots Complex is surrounded by a collection of statues that were once part of Veteran's Stadium. The stadium was demolished in 2004 when its tenants moved into their new homes located in the same area. This statue is called "The Tackle" and it sits across the street from the Spectrum which will be the next victim to the wrecking ball. The Spectrum was once home to the Broad Street Bullies but now it has been stripped of everything but the old scoreboard. The skeleton of the arena can be seen for the last time in the background since it will be demolished on Monday to make way for an entertainment & retail complex called Philly Live. There goes the neighborhood...

Great photo, well done with the ND filter!

I was down there yesterday. It's finally coming down, the east wall/ceiling crumbled...sad to see it go - It's hard to imagine what used to line this stretch, The Vet, The Spectrum, and JFK Stadium.
