"Fat Max's" Cafe - Artisan Inn - DeLand - Florida

"Fat Max's" Cafe - Artisan Inn - DeLand - Florida

DeLand's Artisan Inn, which dates back to 1924, by architect Medwin Peek. The dividers between the booths are extremely elegant in design. The cafe chooses not to be open on Sundays but is worth your drive on other days. For you dog lovers, they offer "Yappy Hour" every Tuesday afternoon until close, dogs eat free with meal purchase. The forms and colors evoke the 1920s. It would make a perfect period film set requiring very little in the way of editing of the decor. Plus there is the dog, Max. Stop by and meet Max every Tuesday. 319 East Pennsylvania Avenue - Deland - Florida - 1929

319 East Pennsylvania Avenue - Deland - Florida - 1929

Superbly sited in "University Terrace" at the intersection of North Cherokee and East Pennsylvania Avenues, this beautiful and well-tended 4000 square foot home is a lovely amalgam of Mediterranean Revival and Classical elements. The bas reliefs in the lunettes over the first floor windows are particularly elegant. It is painted the exact shade of The White House.

743 North Tuxedo Avenue - Deland - Florida - 1900

743 North Tuxedo Avenue - Deland - Florida - 1900

This "University Terrace" home predates the deveopment of the neighborhood that grew around it. It has a Federal style look with the attenuated columns of the portico. You will note the double height bay windows at the right side of the house, one of several indications that the house was more Victorian than Colonial when first built.
