The Lady turns
An
elderly
lady
given name Margaret
family name Roberts
married name Thatcher
stops in the street
and then
turns
once from Finchley
once in Downing Street
and once gloriously borne
from a shop in Grantham
Was also
once
not for turning
She turns now
forced
against will and reason
in to a twilight
away from Westminster
away from friends
feeble
yet to be forgotten
Who
though
dares pronounce
age a surrender
her frailties a failure
A last turn
with life ebbing
Away
and
loves left behind
is prepared for
and
soon will be
happily made
when dust becomes dust
and iron rusts
a memory
cast of sterner stuff
Remains

I see someone like this and wonder what they have seen in their lifetime and what they think about what they see today... very nicely done...
