Today is Veterans Day, an American holiday honoring military veterans. This veteran in New York City was born in Poland and survived the World War I years in Europe. He immigrated to the USA as a child. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army in Europe.

I would love to be able to use this photo to paint for a competition thats coming up over the next months. Its for Portraits and its such a fantastic shot that portrays pride and dignity and should symbolise the fact that if you are willing to die for a country even if its not your birth place you should be given the honour and respect as any other person in that country
