Kids, don't try this at home!
Yes, this a Copperhead snake and those needle-sharp fangs are loaded with poisonous venom. And yes, I'm only inches away shooting with a 60mm macro lens. I was lying flat on the ground with the camera held out as far as possible in front of me. The snake never did strike but looked like it was going to several times.

I know them only too well. They are very difficult to detect, especially in autumn foliage. Nasty bite.
