When God Doesn't Seem Fair

For upcoming Message Series for a client in Toronto.

Trying to convey the theme with a desolate look.

This was asked to be done ASAP, does this concept work?

What over direction would you go?

It does...I'd turn it into a series with different "that doesn't seem fair" scenarios as the image (fires, baby coffin, homeless)...keep the type treatment exactly the same on each.

Might just be me on a wednesday morning, but is the typography just a little bit Star Wars. Maybe something with sharper edges?

Concept overall looks great though; real precise piece of monochrome work. Fab

This is wonderful. I love the cow's comments on different fairness scenarios.

I'm getting a lightning strike feel from the (what I think are) creases or tears. I would rework this part of your texture some, and add a bit to the top, the very top feels a bit too smooth and crisp.

      I actually love the type.

I think it's just the perfect mix of bold and drab.

If you're looking for nitpicking, I do think the leg of your "R" is extending a bit far, and your "FAIR" kerning needs some work (admittedly a tough task, especially with the negative space around the "A").

i like where you're going. funny that i saw "star wars" in the type, too. no need to change it though. it's a good one.

only thing that bugs me is the tree branches in the upper left. it has the "lost at sea in a storm" feel, until you hit that upper corner, then it drags you back to the shore where it's less scary.

      does that make sense?

The background image is supposed to be a flood a believe. I wonder if you could add in a few more trees to differentiate it from the raging seas @muntz referred to. Love the concept, the use of color is good too.

I'm doing a star wars all nighter this Friday, maybe that is what inspired my type? :)

Thanks for the feedback, I do like @holycow's idea of various images... I'm going to work on cleaning up this concept some...

As a printer, I look to see if there is anything I can add from time to time. But you guys constantly amaze me at the depth of talent and intensity that goes into a single design project. If my customers would only realize and appreciate (AND PAY FOR) real design. They want to pay for "typesetting" and get "DESIGN". If they could be a fly on the wall and look at what goes into a piece of work, they might change their minds. But they'd still be cheap :) But seriously, you guys are under appreciated. Even by me. Having said that, it is a rare occaision for me to add comments.
