I watched a small, financially imperiled dance company in Havana last spring. This dancer was the embodiment of grace and strength and totally commanded the attention of everyone in the room. She was magic.

This is Alberto Pablo, one of Cuba's master drummers and known throughout Latin America. He is completely self-taught and has a very unique drumming style that has influenced many other drummers in Latin America, especially Cuba. Alberto is almost 80 years old now and has been drumming for 75 of those years. He currently performs at the Taberna La Canchanchara in Trinidad, Cuba.
