D-9 Hydra

For the SCI-LUG 14x14 stud x 5 brick high starfighter contest.

In case it's not obvious, the ship folds open, as seen on this pic.

Full gallery, including pics demonstrating rules compliance can be found on Brickshelf or MOCpages.

This was a blast to build, but how am I supposed to finish my other projects with all these awesome contests sucking me in? ;-)

What can I say? I think you win this for:
    1. Great design
    2. parts use and
    3. OUT-OF-THE-BOX THINKING!!!!!!

Not only have you made it to fold open, but it also sits diagonally in the 14x14 stud box!
No point in entering now, but you made it worth it!

I know I repeat myself, but I can't help it.

    Inspired design.

    Wow.
    I love it. Lots.
That's a nice part usage for the Basilisk head.
Does the minifig have a custom decal?

  9. mondayn00dle (41 months ago | reply)

^ No, not custom, just a sticker from an Exo-force set.

Everytime I get started ona build that I am really digging, I see a new entry that blows mine to pieces and challenges be to go backa nd begin again.

    This is really fantastic.

This is the standard by which all things that are supposed to be awesome are now measured. See this equivalent to my first time listening to Enya.

I am compelled to call you a madman. This is so awesome.

I loved this from the moment I saw it on MOCpages, but for some reason I was so enamored of the overall shape and functionality that I only now noticed that the nacelles are built from Midgard Serpent heads. Awesome.

This is my favorite microfighter yet!

... Just brilliant, now one of my favourite fighters ever. I thought I had dark green down, but this is fourty times better than anything I've built.

    Seriously, you win.

Thanks for the comments everyone…I’m glad you liked it. It’s been a looooong time since I last built a spaceship…;-)

  21. Genghis Don (41 months ago | reply)

Maybe that's why it looks so stinkin' freash!

How can I have never seen this before? Oh, wait. This one doesn't have feet you needed to rebuild 500 times and ask for my opinion on each time. -_-'

I do like the front though. See? You CAN get positive comments from me! :D
