El Valle de la Luna es un paraje desértico perteneciente a la Región
de Antofagasta; se ubica a 13 kilómetros al oeste de San Pedro de
Atacama. En 1982 fue declarado santuario de la naturaleza y es parte
de la Reserva Nacional Los Flamencos.Este lugar es una depresión
pequeña que rodea Sierra Orbate a 2500 msnm y forma parte de la
Cordillera de la sal. Fue formado a lo largo de milenios por la
erosión fluvial y eólica, las que han tallado su suelo en formas tales
como: crestas con puntas, hondonadas, montículos de colores grises y
ocres, que le dan esa apariencia lunar tan característica.

Valley of the Moon (Valle de la Luna) is one of the most visited
places in and around San Pedro de Atacama and is located 13 kilometers
west of San Pedro in the Cordillera de la Sal, in the Atacama desert
of Chile. It’s an interesting place with stone and sand formations
which have been created through the centuries by floods and wind,
which has also given it an extraordinary color and texture, looking
similar to the surface of the moon. From a large sand dune in the
valley, it is possible to appreciate all the marvelous and surprising
features of this zone. In Valle de la Luna there are dry lakes where
the composition of salt makes a beautiful white covering layer of the
area; escarpments in all colors; green, blue, red and yellow, which
color the sunlight changes depending on the time of day and is
especially beautiful at sunset. It presents diverse saline outcrops
which look like real sculptures and contains as well as a great
variety of caverns.

La foto preciosa, y el lugar muy interesante. Pero oye, ¿por qué se ve tanta gente en la foto? ¿Ïbais en grupo grande? ¿Es demasiado turístico? Yo había oído hablar del lugar, y había visto fotos; pero si hay mucha gente la cosa cambia. Igual algún día me cuentas sobre ese viaje. Saludos.
