OC Heritage - Blimp Hanger at Former Tustin US Marine Corps Air Station

One of the largest wood buildings in the world - 1000 feet long, 296 feet wide, and 170 feet high. Used during World War II to house anti-submarine blimps patroling the nearby Pacific Ocean, just over the ridge at back. On one of two large military bases recently closed to relieve the so-called "housing shortage". Redevelopment as "Tustin Legacy", a major housing/commercial project, was then abruptly halted in 2010 due to the so-called "housing glut". This is where Nixon landed after resigning the Presidency in 1974.

The photo was taken from a south-bound Metrolink train, which runs just outside the fence. I do not know if it is possible to go inside.
