Cross Polarization

I got to try out a cross polarlization set up at my camera club this evening. It's a cool effect!

You'll have to tell me how to do that. Great colors in this shot.

All you need is a light box with a polarizing gel over it. Hard, clear, plastic objects seem to work best. Then you shoot your subject with a polarizing filter on your lens and you get these funky colors. A tripod and shutter release are also good for the low lighting. That's it!

Thanks everyone! Thank you for the invitation Finbar!

I really like this effect and was looking into light tables and polarizing sheets to do more of this type of work. I've been eyeing plastic objects and wondering how they would look cross polarized ; )
