Brown Marmorated Stink Bug

Now in about 30 states. Found an infestation invading a stand of Field Corn. There were hundreds of them. All stages were present except eggs although some adults were mating. Damage on the right. Had they fed earlier when the ear was forming it would be missing all those kernels and look like it hadn't been pollinated.

These were treated with insecticide but the next day the ones on the ground were moribund (not dead). In lab tests they have survived 5 days in that state before returning to life. Zombies! Very difficult to kill, and only a few effective insecticides.

This was a common sight in 2011 on the east coast. I wonder what 2012 will bring.
