Hi Mike, Nice offset ! Is this the same plant as in
your S. sp. Lavranos album? I don't know why
but the name S. powellii keeps on popping
inside my head. It does look like one. What
do you think? The leaves has bluish green
colour as it gets older. I also noticed the R1572 label next to it.
Bummer, I still don't have this plant.... Regards, Seta
This is the same and only species of Lavranos
that I have. It is the most common of all, I
just keep forgetting the number that goes
with it.
I understand you thoughts S. powellii is very
much alike at times. But this is not it my
friend. This one has very short leaves up to
about 15 cm and the plant for me gets to
about 18 - 24 ins. Tall. Powellii gets to
perhaps 7 - 8 feet tall. I have had them
both.
The reason I posted this photo; last year I
sent the offset to Luis and since then it has
produced this other one. In talking with Luis
I sent the photo for him to compare with.
R1572 ha ha it is quite difficult to get hold
of. It is so slow and thats why I think. It
is also not easy my passed offsets have gone
to collectore that have sadly lost theirs.
Talk to me about it in May - June next spring
I will see what I can do. In the meantime I
have just taken you a better photo and will
post it in a minute for you.
Hi Mike, Yes, all is well. Thanks. I wish you well
too. How is the weather? OK so it was not powellii. I hope my powellii
could grow into that height, ha ha. Is it safely to say that your plant is
related to S. arborescens?
Is R1572 really difficult to cultivate? Maybe
our tropical weather suits them the most....
ha ha. OK I'll talk to you about this next
spring. And thanks for sharing the photo.
By the way, I didn't see any squirrel as
Neves suggested. Regards, Seta
Thats great. I once saw a photo of a powellii
up the side of a house it was Pfennigs plant
and his wife was featured and it was way over
her.
I am not sure that it is related yo
arborescens but could be considered part of
that group I guess. There is a lot of
difference and I think we have to be careful
not to mislead people.
Ha ha I am pleased you did not see any
squirrels it was just a private joke from
Neves to me.

Is this plant Lavranos 23251? It looks like it, short thick leaves, S. arborescens group...

Marlon.
