One more (pretty fabulous!) thing...

One more (pretty fabulous!) thing...

On December 14 in Madrid, Gourmand International named How to Cook Bouillabaisse in 37 Easy Steps the winner in the French Cuisine category for books published in Canada! What excitement and what an honour.

Next, in Paris on March 7, the winning books in each category will compete for The Best in the World Award, the top prize.

By the way, that great cover is by Russ Willms.

From Willows Beach, looking out toward Mary Tod Island and Discovery Island. In the distance, 50 km across the Salish Sea, is Whidbey Island, WA.

At the Concert

At the Concert

Alexandre's freind Barton.

Unfortunately, Alexandre was in the most dimly lit part of the stage, and behind someone taller than he is! Therefore, no photos of him in the choir at this year's concert.

How to Cook Bouillabaisse in 37 Easy Steps

How to Cook Bouillabaisse in 37 Easy Steps

I haven't posted for quite a while, and this is one of the reasons. How to Cook Bouillabaisse in 37 Easy Steps: Culinary Adventures is Paris & Provence , the book about my culinary life in France!

That's right, the book is finally published and is now available at Amazon (US, CA, GB, FR, DE...) and on our website (where you get free shipping!).

The response to the book has been gratifying. The Calgary Herald said about the book:

"If you're crazy about all things French, you'll enjoy this book, which not only focuses on food, but is also peppered with anecdotes and making friends in France… A great resource in you're planning to visit Paris."

And the number #1 ranked website about Provence food and wine said:

"The whole book is so rich that there is a strong temptation to treat it like an unputdownable box of chocs…"

In addition, the book has been accepted for competition in the prestigious Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, to be held in Paris next March. (Read more here.)

The other project I've been busy on is our Paris travel advice website, Paris Insiders Guide. Want to know what to do, where to go, where to stay? Here's where you'll find out the best choices, as well as Paris facts, history, airfare, and a lot more.

Now, if I can only squeeze in some time to take some new photographs!
-Mark
