Gosh, milk in a glass bottle! We lost our
doorstep delivery years ago - but at least we
don't have the problem now we used to when it
had to sit in the sun all day and was already
going off when we got home from work.
Don, the milkman has not got round to doing a
doorstep beer delivery. The last problem we
had with the milk was back in January when it
got so cold (-17C) that the milk froze. But
the milkman still made his round, bless him.
And the milk roundsman performed a valuable
social service too, often being the first to
notice a problem, such as yesterday's milk
still outside meaning an elderly occupant in
trouble. We think we progress, but then we
find we've lost out along the line.

Yes, and think about newspaper delivery boys. A great way to earn a few bob but they knew their customers too.
