Stemless Lady's-slipper

Seed pod on stem. These plants were smaller than others I have seen being only about 7 inches tall. There were hundreds of others emerging or nearly in bloom.

Gorgeous newborn! There are so few in New Hampshire these days. Are these protected in Michigan?

web4.msue.msu.edu/mnfi/data/specialplants.cfm lists endangered, protected and extirpated species as of April 2009. The mocassin flower is not listed.
