Western China |
The historic Silk Road crossed Western
China on its way to India, Central Asia,
Persia and Europe. Following the
footsteps of the ancient travelers, I
crossed over from the Tibetan world in
Goldmud to the world on the Silk Road
oases of Dunhuang, Turpan and Kashgar.
Ururmuqi, a large Chinese city in the
middle of the barren central Asian
plain, was a pleasant stopover.
