The Dunhuang cliff
Two Buddhist stupas, built recently as a reconstruction of ancient monuments stand at the entrance to the Dunhuang caves. The stupas were used as a depository of Buddhist relics. The Dunhuang cliff, with its hundreds of caves, is in the background.
