Me Made May 25

I am just stupid in love with this dress. 1940-something Vogue 5456, my 2nd time at it, this time in a silk crepe de chine gingham/floral print. Not everyone's taste I know, but man I am proud of this dress. It has just the 40s silhouette I was looking for- certainly not bombshell, more Kansas farmwife chic. But I dig that too.

This is one of those projects that makes you think about what you make versus what you would be attracted to in a store. If I saw this in a store I would walk right on by and quickly. If I saw this in a thrift or vintage shop I might think twice about it, but think it's not 'me'. But when I made it from an obsessed-over crumbly old pattern I think it's just the greatest thing ever. All those levels of interpretation you put onto something, and how preconceptions and context can really change how something reads.

Great fabric/pattern choice. It works perfectly with the vintage pattern.
