The groups are much smaller this year.
We have been experiencing drought like weather. Many watering holes have dried up.
Paynes Prairie, where they usually spend some of their grazing time, is very dry.

At the IFAS cow pastures on the corner of SW 23rd and SW Williston Road, Gainesville, FL.

Painted Morning 2012

Painted Morning 2012

On a misty beginning to 2012, the sun just started to pop out.
Vintage FL, just down the road from my home, in Southwest Gainesville.
These dirt roads are still common in Alachua County.
Happy New Year!

Thanksgiving Feast

Thanksgiving Feast

As we enjoy our Thanksgiving feast, I am thankful for the many forms of life with whom we share this Earth. Yes, there may be other worlds out there, but this is the planet we inhabit. It is precious and so are the many life forms, species, plants, animals and mammals. The more I learn about these unusual mammals, the more I appreciate the diversity we share. I am thankful and feel blessed to share our globe with such a diverse set of inhabitants. We are all unique and I hope we can share each other’s company for many more eons.
Bats make up one fifth of all mammals (1,116 species). They are among the most endangered of the world's creatures, primarily because much of their habitat has been eliminated by human encroachment or because they are over hunted for food or persecuted as pests or disease carriers. Their loss has serious consequences for the ecosystems to which they belong because bats are important seed dispersers and pollinators for many native flowering plants, and key insect predators globally.
