"Und sie dreht sich doch!" - Nikolaus Kopernikus
In 1543 Nikolaus Kopernikus published "De revolutionibus orbium coelestium" in six volumes. He claimed, that all planets, including Earth, rotate around the sun. The books were banned by the Vatican until 1835.
This is a "historic" shot from Muscle Beach in Venice, CA. The swing set was removed, maybe because of safety concerns? It was a great setup for wild action shots, sometimes creating the illusion that the world is revolving around us.

That's a seriously good pan-and-scan. Perfect clarity of the subject, while everything else is nicely blurred. Was this Photoshopped, or camera-created?

coulombic: The original shot was taken at 1/1000 and the athlete is almost at the deadpoint, so everything was in focus. The radial blur was completely created in PS, sorry.
I am still proud about the fact that this was shot with a "point and shoot".

I wouldn't say there's anything to be ashamed about, as far as Photoshopping it. The effect was achieved, either way, right? I'm not a "purist." If it were a pan-and-scan, however, I would invariably have to remark about your skill, as I can never seem to get mine just-right.
