DECEMBER_COVER02

Working on our Christmas graphic. This has been a hard process. The first half of the series will be dealing with all the distractions and busyness of the season and the call for us to be present in our relationships with others and god. The second half of the series will deal with god's constant presence in our world. so in the graphic i tried to tie in the bigness and busyness of our world, and the reminder, through the star, that god is still present.

I like the look but I think you should try and brainstorm some specific events of the season that distract us and connect the audience to the message of the design. This is a tough concept to convey. I think it would be more effective to show some specific things that are distracting, gifts, dinner parties, shopping, etc. If its a 2 part series perhaps you should show contrasting color schemes and elements that fit together around the star or reveal the other half when you make the transition during the second half of the series. Just some random thoughts...good luck!

I like skeltonmedia's suggestion. I really like the look of what you've done but agree that perhaps there may be a loss of connection to the message. What about showing a small nativity, bible, or some representation of God/Christ in the foreground of your image (off to the side/corner) in sharp focus and then show one of the distractions taking place in the background (a Christmas party or something like that?). Your audience focal point would be the foreground image, but the focal point of the people blurred in the background would be surrounding whatever it is that is distracting them. Your title could be up front with the nativity or bible for a play on words. Just some thoughts; very tough to capture this concept... It's pretty large! nice piece though!
