orange
This is a piece I was asked to create. The theme is "orange" and the idea behind it is rather simple. The mixture of red and yellow gives you orange...in this case, the mixture of family and church gives you a combination (orange) which is beautiful.
This is still early in development, and I need to add a lot of shadows and reflections, but I wanted feedback on the overall look of the piece.

Why not make the word orange match the color? Or have some of the splatters hit land on text and blend to create orange? I think there is more you can to to bring out your concept visually.

i agree with @fmc - rather than leaving the text white, make some of the splatters land on the text and mix them that way.
otherwise, love the concept.

I think the concept is good...as everyone said show the yellow and red making orange. I'd work on the paint as well, I'd even have it pouring in from two different sides into the word orange and then mixing.

It looks like you are starting to get the 3-d text thing down... looking good... I agree with the rest on the paint suggestions, but I think the text treatment is shaping up really nice...

Great 3-D work. What did you use?

Great work. I agree with the other comments about adding orange.
Are you aware that there is an Orange Conference that's based on this concept?

@ studiomuntz - yes i am aware. this piece is actually for a satellite campus of north point, so i should be in the clear of any copyright or copying issues. i'm not actually sure why they've asked me to re-create something that is already so much better than what i can do. weird.
@ everyone - i am going to try and do a little overlapping of the splashes and see how that turns out. i see it in my head. but getting it from my head to computer might be entirely different.
@ brendyn - i did the 3D letters with a trial copy of Xara3D.

3D scares me. The paint looks great. How did you create it?
