HMS Alliance, Chatham 1970

    Tri-X film. Taken in Chatham Dockyard in 1970 a couple of weeks before the beginning of her last commission.

    She is now at the submarine museum in Gosport and about to be restored. See the appeal:

      Were you on this sub John? I went to Chatham Navy Days back in the late 70's and early 80's...always fascinating. It's a museum now, as you know!

      Thanks Julia. Yes - my very first job! We were then based in Devonport. I haven't been back to Chatham - too far to the East! It was the first dockyard to be 'divested' by the government.
