Archos says the Archos 70 and 101 tablets can act in host mode and hence attach slave devices, such as hard drives, flash drives, hubs, keyboard, mice, printers, etc.
Unfortunately, they don't tell us how to cable it up. I went to the ArchosFans.com site trying to get help in locating the necessary cables. What I came away with was the adapter you see in these photos. It points down and prevents the unit from laying flat, which is necessary for many applications (including something as simple as the setup wizard).
I contacted Archos about the cable and they said talk to Radio Shack and Best Buy. Those two firms had ZERO idea what to do and said I should contact Archos -- yet again. As they say it is Archos' design not there.
As I understand it the European Archos store sells the cables, but the USA doesn't sell it. Why?!!
Why won't Archos sell the cables necessary to use their product when the cable is next to impossible to find or even impossible.
I have yet to find the correct cable. The best I found thus far are putting multiple cables and/or adapters together. You can see the result of this adapter.
