A sad day in the history of the GC with LNER B1 No 61173 preparing to take the last day of steam special on the line 3 September 1966 Nottingham Victoria station.Plenty of enthusiasts on the platform all looking very smart are you one of them? The site is now the Nottingham Victoria shopping centre.

I'm crying in my Beaujolais here!! Back in the sixties I remember trolling over to Marylebone with my brother to watch the sleepers depart at midnight-ish.
I also used to spend time at the point where the CG passed over the WCML at Northwick Park. Royal Scots overhead and Duchesses underneath! :0)
