The Fifteen Guinea Special IT57 10 Aug 08
The weather forecast was not good for this re run of the IT57 end of
steam rail tour.Arrival at Settle was met with a heavy downfall of
rain and gale force winds.I decided to watch the event just outside
Horton in Ribblesdale station taking up my position at 12.45 and by
1.30 the field was full of photographers.Difficult at times to stay on
your feet the wind was so strong. In fact some photographers/video had
come back from Ribbleshead because the wind was like galeforce they
said.
BR Britannia class No 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' arrived at 2.06 past the
gallery of watchers.I decided becasue of the weather not to stay and
watch the later run with 450407 + 45231.Great day though even with the
weather.

Looking at this superb shot, I'm really wishing I'd gone. I had been planning on Ribblehead though.

I knew we could count on you FS2007. Fantastic shot. And I knew we could count on Cromwell, she's going like a rocket.
Typical S&C weather! It may have been windy but at least it was blowing the right way for the photo.
Ditto the comments about wishing I was there too.

Many thanks everyone for your feedback.Looking at the 1968 footage and photographs the weather was much better 40 years ago than yesterday. However one thing was the same the amount of interest in this tour.I arrived in good time to take up my position only one other photographer in the field.By the time 70013 came into view I think there must have been over fifty other photographers/video at this location.By the way LG99 I see Craig Stinchcomb from the GCR was on the footplate he deserved his day after all the hard work during the overhaul at the GCR.Fantastic day I knew I would regret it if I had not gone up so glad I decided to go and brave the weather. What more do you expect on the Settle & Carlisle it always rains.

Great shot FS2007. Forget the brief wind on the soundtrack of your videoclip, it is good to hear the bark of a Brit in full flight once again. I think you picked the right location. As there is a speed restriction over Ribblehead viaduct, you would not have got the full-blooded assault that you did at Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Good luck in your quest for more pics.

Just a perfect shot.
