On a very warm but windy day ex GWR Castle Class 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe is seen on the climb at Shap Wells taken from Salterwath.Sheep graze in the field next to the Birk Beck a lovely location to sit and watch the day go by when the weather is this good.

A 'Then & Now' shot showing WD 2-8-0 No 90216 with a down freight through the closed Tuxford North station on the GNR.You can see that the back of the train is near Tuxford Junction where the old LD&ECR made its connection with the GNR.Tuxford North station had closed in 1955 and today the only part left from the station buildings in the old/new shot is the building on the right hand side now part of a scrap yard.In the distance the three arched bridge still remains although today like most of the ECML is covered with vegetation.No 90216 was w/d in August 1964 and I think this photograph dates to around that time.

Recently departed ex GWR Hall Class No 4953 'Pitchford Hall from the GCR to the EOR pulls away from Loughborough during the recent winter steam gala.
