3/52 Puppy Sits

    3/52
At 14 weeks old, Clancy is learning quickly. One of our main lessons is sitting and waiting, before coming out of his crate, exiting and entering a door, before eating or getting a treat, and before getting pet he must sit and not be jumping on me. I am finding him offering this behaviour more and more when he wants something and the last two days he is sitting as we approach the door before I ask him to.

I am still adjusting to photographing a black dog as my 3 other Poodles are white. So many of Clancy's pictures end up washed out looking even with low ISO settings.

I think you are rocking the photos of him. Blacks are hard. This guy sounds like the perfect pup, not to mention how gorgeous he is.

love his little cocked head ... i always underexpose about 1/3 in camera for my three black poodle ... plus if you warm up white balance just a smidge you'll get rid of the blue in the black fur :)

All the things you mentioned I did with the Party boys as pups and the Ham and Griff as adults. The default sit makes everything much calmer, especially with a pack. My boys are also expected to exit the door when I use their name. That way they go out one at a time. Now I need to have them face me and sit after exiting as they all jump around once they are out the door and it's pandemonium on the deck. I'm working on it. Sigh . . .

Pretty Boy! The texture of his coat came out very well in this shot.
Can so relate ...had a D80 and a big black lab= very hard to nail a good exposure. Have you tried spot metering? Seen in

Well you did a great job exposing this one. I know what you mean about black dogs, not the easiest to expose. Plus you got a great head tilt.

He's adorable! Black dogs aren't easy to expose correctly but you did well with this one. I'm going through the puppy training right now too, fun to see them learning and so important.

wow, he's so mature for 14 weeks! (or at least he can pull it off for a photo!) very nice. it can be difficult, but you should be able to pull off the right exposure in no time, I'm sure.
