Abuja 2005 018

This is the view from the compound of the Pottery Center in Bwari. If you look closely, you can see all the kids waving to me, and there's one older boy who is mimicking me taking a picture. Behind them are the homes of the people who live here - tiny shacks with rags covering the doorways. It's very muddy. Just outside the village, we saw people carrying huge, towering stacks of firewood on their heads and shoulders, walking back to the village. They call Bwari the "Clinton Village" because Bill Clinton visited here when he came to Nigeria. The driver told me that the Nigerian government gave Bill Clinton a house here, but I'm not sure if that's true.
