This boy was working hard to impress me and show me how the women make the big pots that you see around. First, they pound the clay down with a big stick on a flat rock. Then, they take the pounded clay to another pot, and stooped over, they shape the large pots entirely by hand. These pots were 2-3 feet high. They walk around the stone in a circle, sometimes with babies on their backs, and just scoop out the clay and shape the pot - entirely by hand. They are later fired basically over open flame.
