Green Frog

Green Frog by phil w..
A few more Green Frog shots from a walk yesterday at the local NJ Audubon sanctuary. The vernal pond there is dense with frogs. I was down on my belly with the ticks and spiders to get these shots.

Thanks, all. It was challenging but fun to do these frog shots. I was shooting with a 300 mm /1.4x/ 25 mm extension tube on a ground pod. I was trying to stop down enough to get both the tip of the nose and the eyes in focus--which I did--but in doing so, my shutter speed slowed down to the point that there was some motion blur on its throat when expanded it throat to croak, even when I bumped up the ISO. But I'll keep working on it.

As much as I hate having to pick off the ticks after I shoot, I would have dived right into the grass to get a shot as great as this! Well done.

Happy you folks like the frog. Here's another shot of the first one, taken about 1/10th of a second later--when it was in the middle of a croak. Even though I had the ISO up to 1000, I couldn't quite stop the motion of its throat as it expanded rapidly.
