Ballachulish Ferry

A ferry service crossed here on Loch Leven as early as 1730. A vehicle ferry started to cross the narrows in 1912, the journey which could be pretty scary, finally disappeared in 1975 when the bridge was opened.

I remember very well waiting for the ferry to take us across, if they were on the wrong side, the ferry men would hop into the inn and have a half and a half, so by the end of the working day, they were blazing...

Is that why the ferry never went straight across?

Great treatment. Shame about the ferry but at least the bridge is photogenic!
