DSC_1929atz Iris germanica black hybrid - "Before The Storm (?)"

    I enlarged this for a better view of the details. Black things are as difficult as white things to photograph. Distinctive because there aren't many black flowers. Bearded Iris is the English name for this type of Iris.

      gas_guy, there are subtler gifts for such an individual......

      Black flowers are uncommon. I had black pansies once out of curiosity. Curiosity did me in too because pansies are apt to self seed everywhere, and these did.

      I just love black flowers or plants with dark foliage. Do you know the name of this Iris?
      Most of the black ones are really dark purple blue - but this one is fantastic!

      Not certain of the name of this cultivar. Possibly "Before The Storm". I checked FerncliffGardens in British Columbia (where I buy Dahlias, too) and they have "Before The Storm". My plant came from a friend....

      Most excellent shot! I have had one for 3 years, and this year it bloomed for the first time. It's so exquisite that it's hard to describe, but *Before the Storm* says it all! Kim
